CINEMA FOR PEACE SUMMER CAMP ACADEMY & FILM FESTIVAL

Lebanon is announced by the United Nations as the land of dialogue where different civilizations can gather around the same table to solve the remaining issues and conflicts. Many movements, foundations and associations are working on a daily basis to reach this goal. Moreover, the Arab region has been suffering from violence, wars and conflicts for a long period. The language of dialogue has disappeared and the resolution means are only restricted in the power of the weapons. From here, Lebanon should be open to all the necessary gatherings and dialogue sessions between different Lebanese entities, organizations, parties etc… so we can reach a common ground and so we can define the right tools and means to solve our problems and conflicts.

We believe that cinema is a great tool to promote diversity, open dialogue and communication channels between different groups, religions, genders, ethnicities and cultures. “Cinema for Peace Summer Camp Academy & Film Festival” consists of having filmmakers participants from Lebanon to learn how cinema can be the newest model in conflict resolution and how arts and culture can promote the belief in the dignity of being different. We look forward to the participants becoming purveyors of a new cinema of cross-cultural dialogue, which reinforces the main objective of this call for proposals: the promotion of understanding and dialogue between cultures and people. 

 Through this project, young people coming for the professional fields of media and film, will gain a positive experience in living and learning together. 

We believe that such an event will promote peace and help the participants to understand more the importance and effectiveness of Cinema and Arts in contributing to a global peaceful language between different cultures and backgrounds. 

At the end of the program, Participants will become Cinema For Peace Advocates and Ambassadors.
